Hit up this iconic bucket list to create the fall vacation you’ve been waiting for!

With all these things to do in Taylors Falls and St. Croix Falls, you’ll need more than just a day trip!

Plan ahead and make a long weekend out of it. We are just one hour north of the Twin Cities metro.

We invite you to make St. Croix Falls, WI a must-do on  your Mammoth Hike Challenge in 2021!

The Mammoth Hike Challenge is a completely free event created by the Ice Age Trail Alliance to promote and celebrate the beauty of this amazing trail that stretches all the way across the state of Wisconsin. During the month of October, simply track 41 miles of activity anywhere on the Ice Age Trail (hiking, walking, running, or backpacking), AND visit three of the Trail Communities.

The Ice Age National Scenic Trail is a thousand-mile footpath that highlights these landscape features as it travels through some of the state’s most beautiful natural areas. The Trail is entirely within Wisconsin and is one of only eleven National Scenic Trails.

St. Croix Falls, known as the “City of Trails”, is a proud Ice Age Trail Community and home of the Western Terminus of the trail.

We would be delighted if you would start right here in St. Croix Falls, WI! It makes a great start point (it is the Western Terminus of the trail) meaning the trail literally starts (or ends, depending on your route) right along the high bluffs of the St. Croix River inside Interstate Park, WI. If you hike the entire St. Croix Falls Segment, you’ll log 9 of your 41 miles right here. And, since St. Croix Falls is an official Trail Community, you’ll get a check in that challenge box too.

Wide Open Spaces Await

Late Fall ushers in a quiet season in the St. Croix Valley and is bursting with the trees’ heavy rusts and golds and the rustling of the fallen leaves. The hustle of the peak season is over, and many visitors find a certain solace in enjoying our outdoor spaces without the crowds. This year, spending time outside is helpful to feel a little reprieve and benefit from the natural therapy of the outdoors.
