Ice Skating

Make family memories with an outdoor skate in the St. Croix  Valley. Feel the fresh air on your face as you glide past evergreens, boughs heavy with snow. Hear the chatter of chipmunks and birds and the sound of laughter ringing out in space. It sure beats the canned air, echoed shouts, and scuffed white boards/plexiglass scenery of an indoor rink. Warming houses provide an area to lace up, catch your breath, or escape the cold.

Be sure to check with each rink for up-to-date information as they will vary with weather conditions.

Oakey Park in Osceola, WI.

A small hill on the park’s eastern boundary is used for sledding when
snow covered.  An outdoor ice skating rink is flooded each winter in
the parking lot that adjoins the
sledding hill.  A warming house sits nearby.

The Leonard Wojtowicz Skating Park has a lighted hockey rink for winter use with a smaller area for recreational skating. Both are flooded each year as soon as weather permits. Open skating is the norm, but the Rink Calendar will identify reserved hours and well-publicized community events. The warming house is open during the skating season. As the seasons change, the Public Works department installs skateboard ramps and rails on the large oval rink. The warming house is equipped with a water bottle filling station and the Bike Fix It station is set up to support area bicycling enthusiasts. Check link for open skate times and warming house hours.
