HWY 87 CONSTRUCTION PROJECT

WEEKLY UPDATES

9-4-26

This week: Holiday weekend, no work until Tuesday morning

Next week: Crews plan to continue work on the west side of STH 87, replacing concrete that was removed. This work will potentially take place in all areas of removed concrete, from Illinois St to Minnesota St.  There will be no parking on the west side of 87 during that work.

 

8-31-26

This week: Finish storm sewer on the west side of STH 87 near the post office today. Tomorrow, removals at the library crossing and then continue with removals on the west side of STH 87 at Kentucky ST.

Next week: Crews plan to work on the west side of STH 87 from Kentucky ST continuing north to Minnesota ST. There will be no parking on the west side of 87 during that work.

PROJECT TIMELINE

  • Traffic control set up

  • Utility & storm sewer work begins

  • Remove pavers
  • Adjust manhole covers, inlet covers & water valves
  • No milling during this phase
  • Install storm sewer

  • Replace curb ramps & other concrete access features

  • Milling begins in late September

  • Place new asphalt pavement

  • Place pavement markings

  • Install signs & final finishing work

  • Final clean up & punch list

PLAN YOUR VISIT

BUSINESS & RESIDENCE ACCESS

Access to businesses and homes will be maintained throughout the project.

The contractor will coordinate schedules, phasing, deliveries and temporary impacts.

Advance notice will be provided before activities that may temporarily impact access.

TRAFFIC & PEDESTRIANS

  • WIS 87 will remain open.

  • Expect single-lane closures controlled by flagging.

  • Parking lanes and some parking stalls may be temporarily closed.

  • Sidewalks may be closed in work areas. Pedestrian detours will be signed.
